Turning and Milling

Two of the most common uses of a CNC machine are Turning and Milling.

Turning uses a cutting tool, much like a lathe, that reduces the diameter of a given surface in an increasingly cylindrical manner. Turning is ideal for producing prototypes and one-off orders.

Milling uses "multi-point" cutting to create flat or stepped surfaces. Generally, CNC milling is used to put the finishing touches on a piece after it has been turned.
